About the Conferencing Book

The Conferencing Book set is a new resource designed by teachers for teachers. It has come into being after seven years of providing professional development in literacy instruction to teachers in Elementary and Middle Schools in New York and Pennsylvania, USA.

Its purpose is to provide classroom, ELA, and Reading and Writing teachers with a practical tool that stores student data in an organized and portable resource. It consists of two books, one for reading and one for writing, specifically designed to meet teachers’ needs when recording student data. Now available as seperate books — Reading and Writing.

The Conferencing Book is a teacher’s notebook that stores student data ‘at a glance’, and, in more detail, in the one resource. It is an organized record of student conferences, teacher observations and anecdotal notes of student behaviours, attitudes, habits and interests in reading and writing. It is a portable file of up to date student information that can be taken to any meetings regarding reading and writing growth and instruction. Available in 2 editions - the 25 and 30 set, which allows you to record data for 25 or 30 children.

The Conferencing Book is a teacher reminder that uses a spreadsheet system to show, at a glance, which students have or have not been met with regularly to ensure continuous support in their reading and writing development. It is a springboard for writing meaningful narratives on report cards as it individualizes and tracks students at their own pace in their own tabbed section.
